Grand Theft Auto 5 GTA V leaked Gameplay Beta test

Grand Theft Auto 5 GTA V leaked Gameplay Beta test

Stupid Website Claims "MW3, BF3, and GTA V Could be Responsible" for Virginia Tech Shooter

I normally don't attack other sites on their content, but this particular headline has caught my eye. A website called "Myona.com" has posted an article today about the Virginia Tech shooter possibly being influenced by GTA 5, Battlefield 3, and MW3.

Obviously, being in the gaming industry, I have a strong opinion about things like this. Usually when an act of violence happens, like a school shooting, people right away blame the gaming industry as the culprit. Not the bullies who teased the child. Not the lack of preventative attention that should've been given beforehand. No, it's always the games.

So when a site feels the need to draw comparisons of real-life actions to actions seen in a video game, it strikes a nerve with me. This, of course, is nothing new. Society always tries to find something else to blame. Before video games, it was music. But when will it end?

The site, which the headline reads, "Virginia Tech shooter influenced by GTA 5, Battlefield 3, and MW3?" is exactly the type of crap the gaming industry doesn't need.

In the article they say, "This has spark a speculation whether Ross was influenced by the recent burst of video games shooters such as Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. His style of the killing is similar to the upcoming Rockstar’s title Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5)."

It makes me wonder, has Myona.com gotten a behind-the-scenes sneak peek at GTA V? Wow, they must be really important. Secondly, I don't recall a scene in Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3 that has you shoot up a cop and a civilian in the middle of the Virginia Tech campus. But even if they had used GTA IV as an example, they'd still be wrong.

Aside from their lack of past and present participle usage, that inference should be criminal. No where, aside from this article that was probably written just for hits and keywords, have I read anything about GTA V, BF3, or MW3 being an influence in this particular case. So where are these speculations? The site claims "We're not just news". That's right. You're bullsh*t, and I'm calling you out for it.

This is a blatant attempt to stir up some controversy that doesn't exist. Wake up people, and stop writing garbage like this.

Grand Theft Auto V trailer vs Real Life

Grand Theft Auto V trailer vs Real Life

GTA V will have a "Very big map".

In a recent interview for the January 2012 issue of Game Informer (picture/scans of magazine below), Dan Houser, the Co-founder and current President of Creativity at Rockstar Games, was asked the following:

Question: You just released the GTA V trailer. Can you talk about that project in any respect? Obviously, it looks like its going back to San Andreas.

Dan Houser: I've got to be real careful here, or they will drag me through the office and whip me with barbwire. I will stick to exactly what's in the press release. It's Los Santos and the surrounding country side - and a very big map.

Although the release statement of the first trailer already stated that GTA V would be Rockstar's 'largest' game, it didn't specifically refer to the map. However, given this interview, we can now confirm that GTA V's map will be bigger than the size of the San Andreas' map, and predicted to be 1.5x larger.
In saying it will be a "very big map", we can assume that a big map in GTA standards is the GTA San Andreas map. So a map that's very big would then be even larger than that.

Although not huge news yet, it does put aside the concerns for map size and diversity. Now we know the map will be massive, and yet contain much diversity with mountains, beaches, farms and forests, which lacked in the past GTA IV map. This should easily be the best map Rockstar has ever created.

GTA V Map Leaked?

And here comes a major leak for Rockstar’s upcoming GTA game, GTA V. It appears that an insider has just leaked Vinewood’s map and you can view some screenshots of it after the jump. Our sources tell us that this is legit and is actually the map that will be featured in GTA V, but as always, take that with a grain of salt. In addition – and contrary to some other map leaks that have appeared on the web some weeks ago – this does look like the real deal.

Now obviously, there could be some differences with the final version of GTA V’s map. Let’s not forget that the game is not finalized yet, so this could actually be its prototype ‘in-progress’ map. On the other hand, we can notice some similarities with GTA IV (like the menus and the gun that the character is holding) but these could be simple placeholders.

So, as always, take everything you’re going to see with a grain of salt.

GTA V is currently slated for a 2012 release on current generation consoles and PC. Here is hoping that the PC version will be released alongside the console versions this time around!

GTA V Gets the Minecraft Treatment

Surely you've seen the GTA V trailer by now? Well, now you can see nearly all of it redone in the world of Minecraft. Sure, the voice-over is slightly different and the soundtrack is slightly lacking, but creator Dennis Variede did a bang-up job of recreating some difficult set pieces and challenging GTA scenes. Marvel at the Minecraftian "Vinewood" sign, appreciate the finely detailed Minecraft cleaning supply robbers, and laugh at the Minecraftian golf game (how did they do that?). Tip of the hat to our friends at Game Bandits for the link.

Variede's video an impressive effort and reminds us that Minecraft's full version is finally getting a release on November 18th. Check out GamePro throughout this week for our ongoing coverage of Minecraft Week-- complete with news, features, and more cool Minecraftian creations.

Rockstar Comments on GTA V Leaks

With all the rumors and leaks that have been going around the web lately regarding Grand Theft Auto 5, Rockstar decided to step up and address the speculations by acknowledging that they do not address “internet lunacy.”

“We do not comment on rumors, speculation and general internet lunacy. We do appreciate seeing the passion gaming fans have shown toward Grand Theft Auto V and we look forward to sharing more information with everyone soon,” the developer told NowGamer.

To call these details that were supposedly leaked “internet lunacy” seems a bit harsh seeing as how detailed it all was. On the other hand, perhaps it was indeed a lone lunatic simply trying to make a name for himself, or get his fine minutes of fame, or whatever his intentions were.

Since the only official information that has come from Rockstar was the actual trailer, we cannot afford to set our hearts on any information out there on the web about this game just yet.

GTA V debut trailer REMAKE in GTA 4, Shows Graphical Evolution

GTA V debut trailer REMAKE in GTA 4 Shows Graphical Evolution, The debut trailer of Grand Theft Auto V that was released earlier this month has been talk of the internet for weeks now. The trailer has now been remade by making use of GTA IV engine in-order to showcase graphical evolution GTA V has undergone.

This remade trailer of GTA V is enough to silent all critics of the game who claimed that the game hasn't evolved much in terms of graphics and visuals as compared to its predecessor. Watch the trailer below, and check out the difference on your own, and let us know in the comment section below what you guys think about it.

GTA V Voice Actor Outed

Ever since the GTA V trailer went live, GTA V has received nonstop press regarding speculation and leaked information. Of the two, the latter revealed that Rockstar couldn’t work out a deal with Tommy Vercetti’s original voice actor, Ray Liotta.

So, if the character in the trailer really is Tommy Vercetti, then who’s voicing him this time around? Official Playstation Magazine UK did some digging in order to answer this important question. What they found has led them to believe that Hollywood actor Ned Luke is the new talent.

Not only does this man sound like Tommy, he even looks like his older counterpart in GTA V. This could all be a coincidence, but the evidence is starting to pile up in his favor.

GTA V speeds to the top of the table

The trailer for Rockstar's latest 'Grand Theft Auto' game, GTA V, shot to the top of the viral chart this week, racking up a further 198,813 shares to add to its all-time total, now more than 500,000.

The trailer has been shared the most on Facebook (492,580 times) and has featured in more than 650 blog posts across the web.

GoPro's "the HD hero" lifted itself into second position from fourth with nearly 50,000 shares this week.

Dermablend's "go beyond the cover" viral, featuring Lady Gaga's friend – the tattooed Ricky Genest – held steady in third position, gaining 40,580 more shares this week and taking it to an all-time total of 443,044.

More GTA V Rumours Patrol Officer Game Mode and Vice Detective Mode

One of the biggest questions that gamers ask about the next Grand Theft Auto game is, "Where will GTA 5 take place?" There are a few rumors floating around which name cities like London (expansion-pack location for the first GTA game) and Miami (location of Vice City), while two other unsubstantiated rumors suggest that the location of the next Grand Theft Auto game will be Detroit or Chicago.

My source in Rockstar has hinted that Los Angeles looks like the front runner based on map layouts and early screens he has seen. Many people believe that Miami is a more logical choice for the next GTA game, but Vice City was a niche game marketed to all of us gamers over 30. Grand Theft Auto has found its stride and won't need to return to Miami and the 1980s. Los Angeles will be the setting for GTA 5, much like it was for Carl "CJ" Johnson in San Andreas. And the only thing that's changed since the San Andreas of the 90s is the Mayor. Contributing to the likelihood of Los Angeles as the location for the next GTA game is the fact that Officer Tenpenny and Officer Pulaski make an appearance at some point in the game (and possibly play vital roles throughout the game). You remember them, they were the dirty cops from Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Our source has confirmed them both as being in the GTA V story, though he doesn't know what role they play. By the way, the image above is not a screen from GTA 5. It's from a web programmer messing around, you can check him out here.

The main character of GTA 5 is likely named either Rock or Brock, as our source inside Rockstar confirms (of course this might change). The main character begins the game as a newly-minted police officer coming fresh out of the academy and ready to fight crime wherever and whenever it occurs. As the character grows and the GTA 5 plot progresses, he finds himself challenged by a crisis of conscience as his assigned partner becomes involved in drug-dealing and other crimes associated with the criminal underworld. The plotline could easily be mistaken for the friction between Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke's character Jake Hoyt in Training Day, and that similarity is likely not lost on the makers of Grand Theft Auto 5.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas fans will be pleased to learn that Officer Eddie Pulaski and Officer Frank Tenpenny will both make appearances in GTA 5, though the context is unconfirmed at this time. It's unknown whether they appear in flashback sequences, present day situations or even whether one of them is related to the main character in Grand Theft Auto V. Additionally, gang characters and leaders from San Andreas will make appearances in GTA 5, including Carl "CJ" Johnson. This information comes from our inside source who has seen storyboards and prototype images from the new GTA game. He has not seen names put to faces (except for the dirty San Andreas cops which have been named), so he is basing his information strictly from the images and storyboards he's seen.

The main plot arc of GTA 5 will be familiar to fans of the Grand Theft Auto series, as it once again finds the main character challenged by a crisis of conscience. The key difference, however, is that this main character actually begins the story as a good guy, whereas every GTA game prior provides a main actor who comes from the underbelly of society. GTA 5 places you in the shoes of a recently graduated police officer named either Rock or Brock (subject to change by Rockstar). You begin the Grand Theft Auto V as a workaday cop roaming the streets with your partner, chasing bad guys, giving tickets and so on. The game progresses through different modes as you climb (or fall) the ladder to SWAT training and duty, helicopter training and duty, the menial tasks of traffic duty hell, and ultimately Vice Detective duty. Per our source, the two core GTA 5 game modes are Patrol Officer Game Mode and Vice Detective Mode. These are the game modes where the main story actually unfolds.

As you progress through the game, a challenge arises as you learn that your detective partner is dirty. You may join your partner in his illegal activities, or decide to stay clean and investigate him. The main story takes place along these lines as you move from one investigation to the next, all while either keeping an eye on your partner or joining him in the underworld. Reportedly, GTA 5 ends with you becoming either a respected Captain of your police force, or a dirty cop Kingpin in the criminal world. In true Grand Theft Auto fashion, both end games give you the ability to continue riding around the streets and supervising. As a Captain, you supervise your officers and help in arrests. As Kingpin, you supervise your drug dealers, pimps and other hustlers while also helping them. We've obviously not been able to confirm this yet since our source has only heard rumors about this within the developer's studio, so take with a grain of salt.

As a patrol officer, the GTA 5 main character stays true to the Grand Theft Auto sandbox style and allows the player to engage in endless police activities. I will bullet list the information our mole has provided on the next GTA game. All details should be considered very likely to be included in GTA 5, except where noted.
GTA 5 Patrol Officer Mode Details
- The GTA 5 character will receive dispatches over the police radio, nearly identical to the police car radio dispatch used in Grand Theft Auto IV but with some improvements.
- Adhering to proper force escalation improves a player's police cred. Using too much force too soon can result in a loss of police cred or assignment to traffic duty if there are witnesses present. No witnesses = no complaint.
- Yes, GTA 5 allows you to engage in police brutality. Remember those dirty cops in San Andreas?
- As a Patrol Officer in GTA 5, the player carries a baton, mace and a taser plus his service pistol.
- Selection wheel is used for weapons, like RDR.

- The player in GTA 5 will actually perform arrests, and according to our source the player will use the L - R analog stick rotation for engaging handcuffs. Subdued suspects can run. (unconfirmed)
- You can call for backup via d-pad, including paramedics for injured pedestrians or other officers (unconfirmed).
- If you call for unnecessary backup, other NPC police will make fun of you (and you will lose police cred).
- While patrolling in your squad car, you will encounter random crimes, civilian aid requests, accidents, etc. Responding to these random crimes can boost your police cred.
- In squad car, d-pad allows for spike strip request, call for backup, report crime in progress, report traffic stop. Reporting crimes to dispatch boost police cred. The ability to request spike strips seems to indicate that GTA 5 has high-speed chases.
- In squad car and from first-person perspective, GTA 5 requires you to observe for broken or tail lights not working, drunk drivers, red light runners, etc. Catching people in Grand Theft Auto 5 for these infractions boosts police cred, with the most minor infractions giving the biggest boost since it means the player is paying more attention and playing the GTA 5 'cop role' expertly.
- GTA 5 traffic stops can turn into full on shootouts depending on what is uncovered during the stop.
- NPC interaction includes basic orders (id request, step out of car, etc) (unconfirmed).
- NPCs can be frisked through R stick rotation, L stick aim (exact controls unknown). Longer frisk can result in finding guns, weapons, drugs/
- NPC vehicles can also be searched using similar R/L stick method.
- Items uncovered during frisk and search can be kept by dirty cops. Can also plant evidence on NPC, resulting in lower street cred.
- NPC can be arrested, let go, beaten up. All of these actions affect the street cred and police cred values. For example, letting people walk on minor infractions makes you a 'cool cop' and boost your street cred.
- Performance as police officer determines total credits or cash available. Better performance = better pay, however dirty cops can use confiscated drugs and weapons to earn side cash or credits. (currency system in GTA 5 is still unknown).

The meaty part of the Grand Theft Auto 5 story occurs once the player reaches Vice Detective status, according to our source inside Rockstar. Here, the player uncovers the criminal activities of his partner and either follows him down that path towards the crooked cop underworld, or maintains his integrity and begins his own investigation into those illegal activities. In this sense, the GTA 5 story plays similar to the classic GTA San Andreas, where Carl "CJ" Johnson is faced with a choice between his gangster buddies from the neighborhood, or freedom from the streets by 'going straight'. As a Vice Detective in Grand Theft Auto 5, the player engages in investigations ranging from drug dealers, pimps and prostitutes, to organized crime and gambling. More details below.

GTA 5 main story missions occur in Vice Detective mode.- Player can follow two main paths: Clean (by the book, investigate partner) or Dirty (follow detective partner into criminal underworld).
- As a dirty detective in GTA 5, player can plant evidence, beat informants, get blowjobs from hookers, steal money and dope from police evidence locker, sell drugs and guns.
- Investigations in Grand Theft Auto 5 include illegal gambling, prostitution, and drug dealing.
- Detective Mode in GTA 5 utilizes the 'cell phone' system similar to GTA IV.
- NPC interaction and comments can give hints as to whether they are nervous or hiding something. This also applies to the Patrol Officer mode in GTA 5 during frisking mini-game, traffic stops and other NPC interaction.
- Detective Mode requires you to develop informants and phone contacts (to be placed in your cell phone and detective ledger) - note that detective ledger is as yet unconfirmed for GTA 5
- Interaction with NPCs as a detective in Grand Theft Auto 5 is fairly straightforward. Rockstar is introducing a new system for GTA 5 but does not want to go overboard with it and lose fans, according to our confidential source.
- There will occasionally be very basic prompts while interacting with NPCs in GTA 5.
- The various investigations in GTA 5 conclude with a request for warrant.
- Actual arrests are performed with actions similar to those in Patrol Officer mode.
- Arrests in GTA 5 may require foot chase through street, car chase, shootout.
- Suspects can be interrogated in GTA 5.
- Interrogations can be nice or tough. Yes, you can beat your suspects though this it's unknown if this has an effect on the investigation.
- Reportedly, a dirty judge is part of one investigation.
- Vice cop difficulty in GTA 5 can be adjusted from easy to hard. Hard level requires lengthier investigations, although it is unknown at this time what that means. Likely it requires more basic running around and talking to informants.

GTA V vs GTA: San Andreas - clever comparison video

YouTube user CreativityZone has taken the time to cleverly recreate the new GTA V trailer using GTA: San Andreas, and stuck both videos side-by-side.

The improvements are huge, but if nothing else it's funny to take a look back at the pinnacle of open-world console gaming six years ago in comparison to what's possible today.

Exclusive GTA 5 Info Leaked by Rogue Games Journalist

A poster claiming to be a games journalist for "a Playstation magazine in the UK" (presumably PSM3) has professed, on the GTA Forums, to having privileged information about the game. He says that magazine staff experienced 30 minutes of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V at the developer's Scotland offices.

It should be noted that everything below is rumor, subject to absolutely no validation whatsoever. Some of the things he writes do make sense, however, and should make for interesting discussion.

1: The game world is absolutely massive and will push both xbox and PS3 to the very limit in terms of what it has accomplished. Yes, the main city is simply Los Santos however is it AT LEAST 4 times bigger than Liberty City in GTA 4 and that is just Los Santos. The surrounding country side, beaches, etc are massive. For instance, we saw the main character ( an African/American, early 30's) travel by car from the center of Los Santos into the wildnerness and it took over 15 minutes. The views were incredible from farmhouses with cattle, huge wind farms, an oil refinery which appeared to be living and breathing with nearly 100 NPCs working on machinery, operating vehicles, lifting and loaded, etc, unlike the gas works in GTA 4 which seemed to only house a few NPC at a time. The forests are more beautiful than those in RDR and featured people camping, young NPC drinking and dancing around campfires, people riding dirt bikes and jumping over logs, streams, etc. The water effects, forna, plants, trees all looked beautiful.

2: The shooting mechanics have been greatly improved with animations for diving, climbing, rolling and crawling all added for better realism. The re-loading animations for new ammo also look cooler, less static.

3: There is much more climbable elements in the world such as ladders, overhand climbing, etc.

4: There are animals in the game from dogs to cattle but at this time it is not confirmed if you will be able to harm the animals. Rockstar were able to get away with it in RDR as it was a true depiction of the world in which the game was set. Allowing dogs/cattle to die in a game sent in current times may cause headaches with PETA. Its unclear if Rockstar were joking here.

5: There are planes to pilot and they can be crashed into buildings if you choose to do so....

6: Rockstar have included many, many more interior locations such as a shopping mall, college campus, police station, a huge hospital and there is also a vast underground sewer network which one mission later in the game involves a jet ski chase that culminates in a Fugitive-esque waterfall jump ( there are nods to the ridiculous but awesome Ballad Of Gay Tony missions)

7: The city is full of NPCs jogging, weight-lifting, hitting on women, being chased on foot by cops, shopping, washing cars, fixing fences, moving home, filling up their cars, etc.

REAL JUICY INFO:

1: Cars can be upgraded/repaired and it has been considered to have a car have fuel forcing the player to fill her up.

2: The dating aspect of the game is gone. You still have a cell-phone but only people you will meet in the game will call you to ask you to do a mission or to ask you to do something else before the mission.

3: Weapons include the usual arsenal you'd aspect but the flamethrowers, remote mines, laxer trip mines and claymores are included. It is possible now to pick up random objects in a street/buidling to use as a weapon. There is also a museam where it is possible to steal old age swords, axes, etc.

4: it is possible to rupture a fuel line and if you shot at the trail of gasoline it will lead straight back to the car blowing it up.

5: mini games such as bowling, darts, etc have all gone. You can play basketball, weight train, arm wrestle, gamble and cage fight, enter triatholons, water races, cannoing, ab-saling, rock climbing, base jumping, ski diving. More to be confirmed.

6: Character customisation is back but only in terms of clothing, body weight, etc. The player you start off which, much like CJ, can't be altered by race, age, height, etc.

7: Rockstar said burglary missions may return but only as part of missions and not on neigbourhood houses.

8: No children NPC at all. Ever.

9: There is now an ability to grab people and use as sheilds or in "hostage" situations.

10: The cops are much, much, much more realistic. If you kill somebody when you know there are no cops around you will not run the risk of a one star as often as you would in GTA4. The cops will use smoke and tear gas, dogs, riot gear and rams to knock down the doors of buildings you are hiding in.

11: You can enter some buildings and lock doors, push objects in the way to barricade.

12: You become better at things as the game progresses. If you only ride motorbikes then you will increase your skills, same as individual weapons.

13: Certain weapons can be customisable and some even home-made.

14: One mission involves breaking out a very familiar GTA icon from a previous game...

15: Torrential rain fall and sunshine and even tremors will appear in the game.

GTA V Leaked Info

An anonymous user on 4chan claiming to have connections to Rockstar Games leaked information that supposedly details plot and gameplay elements from Grand Theft Auto V, Here is what he said when he posted on the 28th Oct.

-The protagonist is Hispanic and his name is Adrian.

-It takes place in San Andreas in 2012. The Mayan end of the world is parodied a lot because of this.

-You start out in Los Santos and are in your rival’s turf, Varrios Los Aztecas, after getting beaten up and robbed.

-The game revolves around money in a big deal. I’d reveal the big idea, but I don’t want to ruin it.

-Multiplayer is in again. There are a couple of new game modes, co-op story, and 32-player game modes for consoles and 64 player for PC. PC also includes dedicated servers.

-PC comes out on launch and is being ported by Leeds. From what they have shown us it is optimized much better than GTA 4.

-San Andreas includes all the same cities from GTA SA and this time they have all became ab it bigger as well as much more detailed.

-Gang turf wars are back. This time not only the general gang are in charge but different sets such as57th Ballas or the Eastside Azteca. They have their own graffiti. You can tag up stuff with custom sprays now too.

-In the end your protag dies once again like in RDR. Afterwards you play as his brother who inherits the money.

-”The money” I refer to comes from a massive drug trade that ships to San Andreas. Its fought over a lot throughout the story and it comes with lots of money. It has ties to your family so it becomes a bigger deal.

-The timeline continues off of GTA 4. It is referenced a lot. I’m not really sure whether Niko dies but he’s mentioned at least twice.

-Car modding is back so is lowriding of course.

-There are 9 radio stations. It features a range of music. Some of the rap is new, some is old. There’s a better selection than GTA 4 though IMO.

-Military has returned in the 6 star wanted level except they are referred to as National Guard.

-Cover system is upgraded and plays more smoothly.

-The moral decisions you saw in GTA IV have more effect on the story now. There are at otal of 4 unique endings. 2 bad, 2 good. Whether the protag dies in all of them you’ll just have to figure out since the endings are actually pretty cool.

-More girlfriends.

-Parachutes.

-Fun cheats are back!

bare in mind this was posted october 28th at 4chan. some of these are starting to look true according to what we seen in the trailer. what are your thoughts?
